In honor of the book and recently released documentary, “Half the Sky,” www.halftheskymovement.org by Nick Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, women at Panzi Hospital demonstrate holding up half the sky in solidarity with their sisters around the globe.
Panzi staff explained the Chinese proverb, “Women hold up half the sky” before we took the photos (the women were photographed from behind to protect their identities). Heads bobbed in agreement and the women clapped with approval. Smiles of pride spread quickly as we reminded the women of their own value and importance in Congolese society.

Absolutely, Toni! Thanks for asking and for the exposure. If it’s possible, and you could include the Panzi Foundation USA web address, that would be terrific! http://www.panzifoundation.org. Thanks so much for all YOU do to make a difference!
